Farmers in Quynh Luu sow seedlings in trays and transplant them using machines, saving costs.
(Baonghean.vn) - In order to reduce time, costs, and effort for farmers, many localities in Quynh Luu district (Nghe An province) are promoting the application of mechanization in agricultural production, introducing tray seedling technology and rice transplanters into rice production.

This year, during the summer-autumn crop season, Quynh Lam commune has implemented the following model.tray platingThe rice transplanter was used in agricultural production on an area of 5 hectares in the fields of village 9.
The application of this new model not only helps farmers save on rice seeds, reduce costs, labor, and planting time, but also increases productivity and production efficiency.

Mr. Ho Van Sinh, one of the households applying the tray seedling model in Hamlet 9, Quynh Lam Commune, said: "Tray seedling cultivation has many advantages, and there is no worry about rats destroying the seedlings;"Farmers also have less work and less seed. Normally, planting one sao (approximately 1000 square meters) of pure rice requires 2 kg of seeds, but this type only requires 1.5 kg."
This is the first time Quynh Lam commune has implemented tray seedling cultivation. After one week of sowing, thanks to adhering to the correct care procedures and regular watering, the seedlings are developing well and now have 2-3 leaves. It is expected that in about 5 days, the seedlings will be transplanted to the field using a machine.

Compared to traditional methods, sowing seedlings in trays reduces the amount of seed needed by half per sao (approximately 1000 square meters). Tray seedlings grow more vigorously than conventional seedlings, overcoming the limitations of outdoor seedling cultivation, such as dependence on weather conditions, and avoiding root damage when transplanting seedlings to the field.
“Compared to sowing rice seedlings in the open field, sowing in trays is much more efficient. Firstly, we can control the time for watering and caring for the seedlings. Secondly, the seedling preparation process is very convenient, using a conveyor system from land preparation to irrigation, and the rice seedlings are spread evenly on the trays, resulting in good seedling growth and saving labor,” added Mr. Ho Ngoc Truong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Lam commune, Quynh Luu district.
