Farmers earn billions from commercial cattle breeding

(Baonghean.vn) - From raising cattle for sale, many families in Thanh Chuong (Nghe An) have become billionaires. The district aims to have about 45,000 cattle for sale by 2020 with an export meat output of over 2,000 tons, the proportion of income from raising cattle and buffaloes in the livestock industry accounts for 10-11%.

Mr. Nguyen Sy Thanh in Hamlet 7, Thanh Thuy Commune decided to go to Khe Mu area to raise cattle for sale. Starting in 2008, with the help of the Commune Farmers' Association, his family borrowed 30 million VND, along with some of his family's capital to buy 8 breeding cows and then about 2 years later the number was doubled. Up to now, his family has a herd of over 80 cattle, including 30 breeding cows, 10 mother buffaloes with over 7 hectares of raw acacia trees, his family's average annual income is about 1 billion VND.

Thanh Thuy is a mountainous commune with large land potential, suitable for livestock development, especially cattle, pigs and other poultry. In recent years, the attention of local government leaders has focused on prioritizing the Farmers' Association to develop the economy, focusing on commercial cattle breeding. That has contributed to reducing the poverty rate of the commune to 2%.
