Farmers make homemade weeding and corn hoeing machines from old motorbikes

(Baonghean.vn) - With a passion for creativity, Mr. Phan Thanh Hung, in Ha Suu hamlet, Tan Phu commune, Tan Ky district (Nghe An) has created two multi-purpose agricultural machines to serve production.

Born and raised in a purely agricultural countryside, working hard every day to cultivate the land and take care of crops, especially during the main production season when farmers have to race against time, Mr. Hung wondered how to invent a multi-purpose machine to help farmers facilitate production and save costs. After a period of research, he successfully manufactured a multi-purpose agricultural machine at the end of 2015 and it was put into testing in spring and summer-autumn crop production.

The advantage of this machine is that it has functions such as plowing, harrowing, weeding, and ridge making, according to a very simple, convenient, easy-to-use motion control mechanism, suitable for both fertile soil and rice fields. Through testing, each sao of land completed by the machine for planting only takes about 1 hour with fuel costs of only 20 to 30 thousand VND.

Mr. Phan Thanh Hung shared: “Once you have an idea, you have to study each process and detail to make it most suitable and convenient. The engine must be easy to use, and the equipment must be easy to install and remove depending on your needs. If you want to plow, install a plowing device. If you want to harrow, install a harrowing device. You can adjust the depth or shallowness as you like.”

Mr. Hung also invented a machine to fertilize and hill corn plants. This machine performs two functions at the same time: fertilizing and hilling, thus reducing time and labor, and fertilizing evenly throughout the field, resulting in high productivity.

Mr. Hung put the machine into use for his family's production and helped many households with land preparation.

The special thing is that the two machines that Mr. Hung successfully made were made from old motorbike engines and other parts made of iron and steel materials available on the market, so the investment cost is not high. Each multi-function machine, according to Mr. Hung, is worth from 7 to 10 million VND.
