Breaking News: US conducts laser weapon test in the Persian Gulf.

The U.S. Navy has tested a laser weapon system (LaWS) in the Persian Gulf, CNN reports.

"This weapon is more precise than a bullet. This is not a narrowly specialized weapon system like others we have in the defense industry that are only for air targets or only targeting targets on the water or land. This is a weapon with multiple methods of execution and can be used against multiple purposes," Captain Christopher Wels stated.

According to CNN, LaWS is capable of hitting enemies at "the speed of light," 50,000 times faster than intercontinental ballistic missiles.

"We're not worried about the wind, the distance, we're not worried about anything else. We have the ability to strike the target at the speed of light," — CNN quoted Lieutenant Cale Hughes as saying.

According to CNN, the US Navy was testing a laser weapon that targeted a drone. The laser system aimed at the drone, and its wing melted, causing it to fall into the sea. The attack was carried out "silently and invisibly."

Lieutenant Hughes estimated the cost of using laser weapons in one dollar.
