People's Artist Thu Quế looks youthful and beautiful at 54, happily alongside Meritorious Artist Phạm Cường.
People's Artist Thu Quế reveals her secrets to maintaining her figure and youthful beauty, as well as how she and her husband, Phạm Cường, have a harmonious marriage.

- Many people admire People's Artist Thu Que for maintaining her beauty and slender figure at the age of 54. What is her special secret?
I don't have any specific method. But firstly, it's because I've been blessed with smooth skin that doesn't easily break out, and a balanced figure since I was young. I'm an active person with a good constitution, so thankfully, my health is still good at this age. Good health leads to positive thinking. No matter what happens, I just deal with it for a day and then let it go.
Daily exercise is my passion. It's like food and sleep, indispensable to me. As I get middle-aged, my muscles are no longer as firm, so I have to train hard.
From a young age, I was afraid of eating meat, so for many years, although not intentionally, I've been like a vegetarian. Perhaps it's because of this diet with less animal meat that my body has aged less?
Life is full of worries and hardships, and to accomplish a lot and do a good job, you need good health and a positive mindset, and I am such a person.
Regarding skincare, I diligently apply sunscreen when going out or performing under lights. At home, I use various creams for my skin, take regular supplements, and frequently purchase memberships for facials, body treatments, and traditional Chinese medicine health care such as acupressure and massage. I prefer a natural look, only applying more makeup for events or photoshoots to look more glamorous.
- Is having a warm and happy family with Meritorious Artist Pham Cuong also an important factor in helping you maintain a cheerful spirit?
Thankfully, everything is alright, even though no family is perfect. As I get older, I've become more understanding, calm, and content with what I have. I'm always grateful to God, Buddha, and my ancestors for blessing me with good fortune.
I harbor no greed, envy, or jealousy towards those around me. My house may not be beautiful, my car may not be luxurious, and my bags may not be designer brands, but I am content with my simplicity. I know how to love and share with my family, with the poor and disadvantaged, and I am deeply concerned about the unfortunate and unhappy. I don't live selfishly for myself.
I am always grateful for what I have today. A complete family, a successful career, a supportive and understanding husband in the same profession, loving and supportive parents, and an audience and friends who cherish me. As an artist, having all of that is incredibly fortunate.
- Many husbands are proud of their wives when they look beautiful and post photos on social media that draw admiring comments, but a few don't like it. What about your husband, Meritorious Artist Pham Cuong? Has he ever commented on your overly youthful and beautiful photos on your personal page?
Because we're in the same profession, he's very understanding and never comments on me posting photos. Furthermore, people comment on my photos very politely, not saying anything vulgar. I live a simple life, so I feel embarrassed by excessive compliments. Someone commented that I looked young and beautiful, and I jokingly said I'd just had cosmetic surgery, even though I haven't actually had any procedures. Wrinkles around the eyes are unavoidable with age.

I don't know if I'll have any cosmetic procedures in 5-10 years, but right now I want everything to be natural, including aging each year. Getting facial injections might make me look better now, but there could be side effects later, making my face look stiff, so I'm scared. I want to look good in photos, with a little touch-up, so my image doesn't contradict reality, because then I won't be Thu Que anymore.
- After 'Love and Ambition', audiences haven't seen you in many films. I guess Thu Que will have to wait until she retires next year before she has time to return to the screen regularly?
According to regulations, I will retire next year. I've recently been acting in a film.Paper rosesBut it's only shown on Netflix. Actually, it's because I haven't had as many good roles as I did when I was younger. There were roles they offered, even leading roles, but I turned them down because I didn't like them.
During this time, I've been participating in stage plays more frequently, so even though I haven't been acting in many films, I'm never free. Besides my work, I also have to take care of my family, parents, husband, and children, so I'm always busy. I almost never have time to sit around moping or envying others.

- Audiences admire the happiness of People's Artist Thu Que and Pham Cuong and hope they will return to the screen in a film, especially now that her husband has retired and has more time for filmmaking? Would you like to act together again?
It depends on whether the director invites us or not; often they invite us to something different, even if we've acted together in a film before.Yellow lights, late autumn twilight. If I receive an offer, I will consider it, but it would be difficult to arrange for both my wife and I to film a long-running series because there would be no one to look after the family.
- When the drama 'Sunflower Against the Sun' was aired, the couple Quân and Cúc, played by your husband and People's Artist Thu Hà, were very popular. At the time the drama was broadcast, how did you feel about the popularity of Meritorious Artist Phạm Cường - your husband - and your close friend - People's Artist Thu Hà?
Actually, I didn't watch that movie at all because I didn't have time to follow it. But when I saw everyone praising it, saying:Meritorious Artist Pham Cuong acted very well, Thu Ha performed wonderfully.I was also happy because it had been a long time since they last appeared, and they received praise from both the audience and their colleagues. As someone in the profession, I didn't have any reason to be curious like a typical audience member.
If we were younger, like when we first got married, we might have felt a little resentful, but now we're too familiar with each other's work. If we don't give our all in our performances, the audience will say we're not good actors. The most important thing is that husband and wife in the same profession understand and empathize with each other. Only then can we live peacefully and have a stable family. If today the wife acts with one person, tomorrow the husband acts with another, and we're constantly bickering, it's very difficult to live together.
