In early November 2025, People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi made a strong impression on the audience when she simultaneously took on two roles with completely opposite fates in two TV series: "Sweet Honey Like Smoke" and "Tea Witch". This diverse transformation once again affirmed the artist's talent and dedication to art.
Transform into a miserable mother with a bare face
In "Sweet Honey Like Smoke", Trinh Kim Chi plays Mrs. Tam Luong, a widow who works hard to earn a living selling fried bananas to raise her son. To truly portray the character's hardships and hardships, the actress made a bold decision: to go completely bare-faced throughout the entire filming process.
Director Hoang Map expressed his respect for this decision: "Even though I have been in the profession for many years, I am still surprised that a famous actress decided not to use any makeup. With experience from the 90s, she always completed the scenes in the fastest way."
Mrs. Tam Luong’s life became even more tragic when her second husband was often drunk and abusive. The climax of her pain was when her son went missing, becoming a victim of a cross-border human trafficking ring, reflecting a painful social problem.

In complete contrast, the role of Mrs. Bay Tra in the movie "Tea Witch" is a completely different image of Trinh Kim Chi. She is a successful, single, wealthy businesswoman and holds the largest tea empire in the region.
With her noble appearance and strong, ambitious personality, Mrs. Bay Tra does not hesitate to use any means to prevent her daughter Cam Loan's (Phuong Ngan) love with the poor man Hoai Tam (Le Trung Hieu). She is determined to arrange for her daughter a marriage of equal social status with the wealthy Mr. Bui Nguyen Thuy.
