A female con artist, posing as a lawyer, promised to help people obtain land ownership certificates and swindled over 10 billion VND.

Using forged documents and posing as a lawyer, Tran Thi Huong defrauded many people out of more than 10 billion VND.

On May 24th, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police announced the conclusion of the criminal investigation and forwarded the case to the Provincial People's Procuracy for prosecution of Tran Thi Huong (born in 1975, residing in Hong Ha Ward, Ha Long City) for the crimes of Fraudulent appropriation of property and Forgery and use of documents and seals of organizations and agencies.

Previously, on August 15th, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police initiated a criminal case, charged and detained Tran Thi Huong for using a forged land use right certificate to mortgage and borrow 600 million VND.

Specifically, from 2017 to 2018, due to needing money for personal expenses, Huong used two forged land use right certificates located in Mong Cai City to mortgage and borrow 600 million VND from Ms. LTN.

After the police informed them about the case, Huong's victims came forward to report her fraudulent activities and appropriation of property.

Four people have come forward to report and accuse Huong of impersonating the head of a law firm for two companies in order to promise to process land ownership certificates ("red books").

Using this scheme, Huong embezzled over 7.3 billion VND.

In addition, Ms. LTT (residing in Cao Thang ward, Ha Long city) accused Huong of providing false information about land plots being transferred on the market to solicit investment for business, and then misappropriating 2.7 billion VND of Ms. T's investment capital.
