Poor female student in Do Luong aspires to become a soldier.

However, Dau Thi Lien - a student in class 12A1, Do Luong III High School (Nghe An) - always strives to overcome difficulties, excel in her studies, and registers to take the entrance exam for the Military Technical Academy with 29.5 points.

The family of Dau Thi Lien lives in Van Minh hamlet, Minh Son commune, Do Luong district - a rural area still facing many difficulties. With only 7 sao (approximately 0.7 hectares) of rice fields, the family's life is quite hard, so her father, Dau Le Le, had to go to Da Nang to work as a construction laborer to save up money to support his three daughters' education.

Understanding her parents' hardships, Lien was determined to pass the entrance exam to the Military Technical Academy in the A1 group with 29.5 points. Specifically, Math: 10; Chemistry: 10; Physics: 9.5. Upon hearing the news of her high score, her mother, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, was deeply moved: “Lien is very studious; she wanted to get into a military school so that her parents wouldn't have to pay so much for tuition. When I found out she got such a high score, I was so happy I cried.”

To achieve high scores in the recent exam, Lien shared: “Group study skills are very important. After absorbing the lectures in class, I often discuss exercises with my classmates. This makes it easier to remember the material and provides many effective ways to solve problems.”

In addition, Lien frequently studies online and asks her teachers for clarification whenever she doesn't understand something. It is known that Lien's main motivation for achieving high scores is her desire to repay her parents' kindness, especially her father, who has struggled to make a living in a foreign land to support his children's education.

Đậu Thị Liên is also known as a highly accomplished student. For 12 consecutive years, she achieved the title of all-around excellent student. In grades 6 and 8, she won first and third prizes in Mathematics at the district level. In grade 11, she was awarded the title of excellent student in Mathematics at the provincial level.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, homeroom teacher of class 12A1, said: “27 out of 42 students in the class scored above 25 points. Among them, Dau Thi Lien was the most outstanding student, with 29.5 points. Her family is near-poor, but she worked very hard in her studies. In class, she is quite gentle, well-behaved, quick to learn, and very diligent. I hope she will achieve even more high accomplishments to contribute to the development of her homeland and country.”
