From initial interest to passionate dedication to youth union work.

From the center of Quy Chau district, traveling along National Highway 48, we covered more than 15 kilometers to Chau Binh commune. We met Truong Thi Trang, who was there with youth union members cleaning up village roads and alleys, and tending to green trees in response to the national Green Sunday initiative.

Small in stature, with a pretty face, always cheerful, enthusiastic about her work, and always encouraging the spirit of the Youth Union members and young people… these are the impressions we got from the female Youth Union leader of Chau Binh commune. Trang led us on a tour of some successful economic development models implemented by Youth Union members and young people in the commune. She humbly shared that all the exemplary models and achievements in the commune's Youth Union movement stem from the efforts and enthusiasm of the Youth Union members and from the care and support from the Youth Union at all levels… while her own contribution is very small.

Truong Thi Trang said that her joining the Youth Union was a matter of fate. In 2012, after graduating from the University of Trade Unions, Trang returned to her hometown hoping to contribute to the poor village where she was born. In 2014, she was elected Vice President of the Women's Union of Chau Binh commune. After two years of activity, with the enthusiasm of youth, Truong Thi Trang was trusted and elected to the position of Secretary of the Youth Union of the commune. This also marked the milestone of her officially becoming involved with the Youth Union. Six years of dedication to the leadership of the commune's Youth Union have given her many memorable experiences and helped her mature. Trang always believes that no matter what position she holds, she must strive her best in her work. It is precisely because of this positive mindset that for many years, the Chau Binh commune Youth Union has consistently been among the top performers in youth and children's movements in the district.

Chau Binh is the largest and most populous commune in Quy Chau district. Many villages and hamlets here face difficulties, with limited transportation and infrastructure; and significant disparities in educational levels among the population. This reality significantly impacts the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement, especially in gathering young people to participate in the Union and local activities. However, these difficulties did not deter the enthusiastic young female leader, Truong Thi Trang. Together with her colleagues in the Commune Youth Union Executive Committee, she sought various solutions to mobilize young people; guided the organization of activities at the branch level, especially in disadvantaged branches. The Commune Youth Union Executive Committee focused on maintaining and improving the quality of activities at the branch level, regularly attending meetings at the grassroots level, promptly understanding the thoughts and aspirations of young people; and established a "Youth Economic Development Club" to facilitate learning, mutual support, and assistance, thereby inspiring young people to strive to overcome poverty.

Besides her enthusiasm for youth union activities, Trang is also passionate about volunteering. She always proactively stays close to the grassroots, learning about and understanding the lives of the people in order to promptly advise the Party committee and government, as well as calling on organizations, businesses, and individuals to join hands in helping those in difficult circumstances.

Trang proactively coordinated with organizations, departments, and associations, raising 100 million VND to support the construction of a charitable house for Mrs. Lu Thi Dong in Do 3 village. She also mobilized 29 million VND to help Le Thi Tuyet, who suffers from bone cancer. Furthermore, she directly advised the Chau Binh Commune Covid-19 Prevention and Control Steering Committee to call on agencies, businesses, and philanthropists to donate 79.5 million VND…

Speaking about the Secretary of the Youth Union of Truong Thi Trang commune, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hieu - Secretary of the Quy Chau District Youth Union, said: "Comrade Trang is a person full of enthusiasm and the pioneering and volunteer spirit of youth. She is always energetic and creative in all activities, and she performs exceptionally well in every task."

With the achievements she has made, Ms. Truong Thi Trang has been honored with numerous Certificates of Merit and Commendations from various levels. She was awarded the title of Outstanding Young Party Member in 2019; the Provincial Youth Union commended her for her outstanding achievements in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic; and the Quy Chau District Military Command commended her for her outstanding achievements in the Emulation Campaign for Victory in 2020. Truong Thi Trang also won first prize at the District-level Excellent Speaker and Propagandist Competition in 2021; received an Encouragement Prize at the Nghe An Provincial Excellent Speaker and Propagandist Competition in 2021; and was awarded the title of District-level Emulation Soldier in 2021… Notably, the female leader of the Chau Binh Commune Youth Union is one of the six outstanding young Party members of Nghe An province to be commended in 2022.
