British Prime Minister may resign on June 10

Many major newspapers in the UK reported on May 23 that British Prime Minister Theresa May may announce the exact time she will leave her position as leader of the British government, after a meeting on the morning of May 24 with MP Graham Brady, Chairman of the 1922 Committee, which brings together Conservative MPs who do not hold government positions.

Speaking to The Guardian, Mr. Brady also confirmed this information. Many sources close to the British government revealed that the time Mrs. May chose to leave could be June 10, 2019, after completing the reception of US President Donald Trump to visit the UK from June 3.

The pressure on Mrs. May to resign is currently extremely great after many members of the British government publicly opposed the Brexit strategy that Mrs. May is implementing. On May 22, an important politician of the British Conservative Party, Mrs. Andrea Leadsom, Minister in charge of relations with the British Parliament, resigned in protest against Mrs. May.

British press also reported that on the evening of May 23, Mrs. May had a meeting with two other key ministers, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt and Home Secretary Sajid Javid, and both ministers did not support Mrs. May's intention to leave open the possibility of holding a second referendum on Brexit.

Earlier, on the afternoon of May 23, British government representative Mark Spencer informed British MPs that the British government had postponed the plan to bring Mrs. May's new Brexit bill to a vote in Parliament, which was originally scheduled to take place in the first week of June. This postponement will last until at least June 4./.
