Female track and field athlete breaks national sports大会 record
Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh from Bac Giang province finished first in the 1,500m race with her best performance ever.
On the morning of November 28th, Nguyen Thi Oanh competed in her first event at the 2018 National Sports Games, the 1,500m race. Despite fierce competition from 11 other athletes, with her composure and years of international experience, Oanh managed to conserve her energy in each leg of the race, then accelerated to cross the finish line first.

Oanh's time of 4 minutes 14 seconds 67 earned her the gold medal, breaking the Games record. The previous record belonged to former athlete Truong Thanh Hang (4 minutes 18 seconds). This is also Nguyen Thi Oanh's best performance to date in the 1,500m event. Previously, she achieved a time of 4 minutes 14 seconds 83 at the Ho Chi Minh City Open Athletics Championships in July. At the 2019 SEA Games, she also won a gold medal in this non-specialized event with a time of 4 minutes 20 seconds 51.
At this year's National Sports Games, Nguyen Thi Oanh still has two more events to compete in. On the morning of November 30th, she will compete in the 5,000m race, and on December 1st, she will continue to compete in the 3,000m steeplechase. These are both considered her strongest events. Despite this, in an interview with Ngoisao.net, Oanh humbly stated that her only goal is to do her best and compete to the best of her ability.
2018 was a fairly successful year for Nguyen Thi Oanh as she achieved many good results in international competitions. Before the national sports games, she had already won a bronze medal in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Asian Games, and gold medals in the women's 1,500m and 3,000m steeplechase at the Singapore Open...
