From January 1st, 2026, visitors can admire the 7.2-meter-tall statue of Buddha Kūṭa-hūmi, completing their spiritual journey through the Past, Present, and Future at Ba Den Mountain.

From January 1st, 2026, Mount Ba Den (Tay Ninh) will officially open its doors to visitors to venerate the statue of Buddha Konagamana. This is the newest Buddhist sculpture, which was installed on December 29th, 2025, contributing to transforming the highest peak in Southern Vietnam into a rare spiritual space, a gathering place for Buddhas from the past to the future.

An introspective journey beneath the Udumbara Waterfall.

Unlike the majestic, open-air statue of the Goddess of Mercy on Mount Tây Bổ Đà, the Buddha Konagamana, though situated at the highest point of the mountain, chose a humble, hidden location. The statue lies within the Ưu Đàm Waterfall complex, beneath an ancient fig tree and the pure waters of the waterfall.

To admire the waterfall, visitors must enter the space inside. This arrangement implies an introspective journey: only when one calms their mind and delves deep into their inner world can they reach enlightenment. The Udumbara Waterfall, with its water cascading into a golden lotus pond, not only creates a magical landscape but also symbolizes auspiciousness and prosperity spread throughout the world.

A masterpiece of bronze sculpture plated with 24k gold.

The statue, standing 7.2 meters tall, is meticulously crafted from red bronze with a dazzling 24k gold-plated surface. The Buddha is depicted meditating in the lotus position on a lotus pedestal amidst the shimmering surface of the Udumbara Lake.

Particularly noteworthy are the symbolic details on the statue's body: the right hand forming the teaching mudra symbolizes the preaching stage; the left hand holding a fig – an image associated with the story of his enlightenment under the Udumbara tree. Surrounding the statue is a system of 32 golden pillars, symbolizing the 32 auspicious marks of the Buddha, creating a radiant halo that shines throughout the sacred mountain peak.

With the enshrinement of the Buddha Konagamana, Mount Ba Den has become a rare place in Vietnam that brings together Buddhist symbols from the past, present, and future.

  • Past:Buddha Konagamana (The Buddha who brings golden age).
  • Present:Goddess of Mercy of Mount West Bodhidharma (Embodiment of compassion).
  • Future:Maitreya Bodhisattva (Symbol of joy, generosity, and peace).
