According to the reporter's records on the morning of October 1, the water level atWest Market Vinh Communal House- The most flooded area in Vinh city at this time, has risen by about 30cm. The kiosks behind Tay communal house are submerged in water, and traders cannot return to business and trade.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ninh - a trader at Vinh market said: "I thought that because of the little rain yesterday, the water would recede last night so we could reopen, but unexpectedly the water rose higher, up to nearly 1 meter. Even though we had placed the goods high, in this situation we had to mobilize people to bring the goods back, leaving them behind is not reassuring."
It is known that on September 30, Vinh City mobilized 3 pumps with a capacity of 600 m3/hour to drain the floodwaters in the West Communal House area of Vinh market, but according to the reporter's observation, only 2 machines are operating, 1 machine has been broken since yesterday and has not been fixed yet, therefore, the amount of water pumped out is still very low compared to the amount of water entering this area.
Through discussion, Vinh City leaders said: The reason why the West Communal House of Vinh Market continues to be heavily flooded is because the water in the Vinh River is rising because water from upstream is continuously flowing in, while behind the West Communal House is a low-lying area, so water from neighboring areas is also flowing in there. Currently, Vinh City has grasped the situation and will increase the number of pumps to drain the water, this is the most feasible solution at this time. In the long term, the city is waiting for competent authorities to approve the plan to upgrade the West Communal House of Vinh Market, moving towards completing Vinh Market as soon as possible.
