Rising floodwaters forced vendors at Vinh market to move their goods home.

According to observations by reporters on the morning of October 1st, the water level atTay Market communal house in Vinh- The area most severely flooded in Vinh City at this time has risen by about 30cm. The kiosks behind Tay Temple are submerged in water, and traders are unable to resume business.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ninh, a small business owner at Vinh Market, said: "We thought that since it didn't rain much yesterday, the water would recede last night so we could reopen our shops, but unexpectedly, the water rose even higher, almost 1 meter. Although we had raised our goods, given the situation, we had to mobilize people to move the goods inside, because we didn't feel safe leaving them there."

Reportedly, on September 30th, Vinh City mobilized 3 pumps with a capacity of 600 m³.³Water pumps are being used to drain floodwater from the area around the West Pagoda in Vinh Market, but according to our reporter's observations, only two pumps are operating. One pump has been broken since yesterday and has not yet been repaired. Therefore, the amount of water being pumped out is still very low compared to the amount of water accumulating in this area.

During discussions, the leaders of Vinh City stated that the reason for the continued severe flooding at the Tay Temple in Vinh Market is due to rising water levels in the Vinh River, caused by continuous water flow from upstream. Furthermore, the area behind the Tay Temple is low-lying, allowing water from nearby areas to also flow into it. Vinh City has assessed the situation and will increase the number of pumps to drain the floodwaters; this is the most feasible solution at this time. In the long term, the city is awaiting approval from the relevant authorities for a plan to upgrade the Tay Temple in Vinh Market, aiming to complete the Vinh Market project as soon as possible.
