Raising chickens with silage earns 500 million VND/year

Our first impression is that Mr. Dai's family's livestock area is very clean, the chicken feeding and drinking water systems are scientifically arranged. On an area of ​​over 3 hectares, he arranged 6 rows of barns, with a total barn area of ​​700 m2.², including 4 rows of chicken coops, 1 coop for egg-laying hens and 1 coop for hatching chicks.

Using the silage method, Mr. Dai's family's chickens grow well and have delicious meat quality.

Every year, his family rotates 3 batches of free range chickens, each batch raising about 2,500 chickens. Previously, raising chickens in the traditional way often caused disease outbreaks, so in 2014, after reading books and newspapers, he used active biological yeast made from herbs to ferment feed for livestock and poultry.

Accordingly, he mixed 200 grams of probiotics with about 20 to 30 kg of crushed fresh cassava, then incubated in a cement tank or plastic bag, after 15 days until it had a sour smell, the animals could use it. Since using silage, Mr. Dai's family's chickens have had fewer illnesses, gained weight quickly, had high uniformity, environmental problems were basically solved, the stench was gone, and the loss rate was reduced to 2%.

Mr. Dai shared: “This silage is used in combination with green vegetables, corn bran, and rice bran. Since applying this method, my family's chickens have reduced intestinal and respiratory diseases, so the chickens absorb nutrients well, grow quickly, and the delicious meat quality is favored by consumers. In particular, investment costs are reduced, so profits are 30% higher than traditional chicken farming. On average, I sell more than 7 tons of chicken meat each year, earning over 500 million VND.”

Besides using the method of fermenting feed for chickens, Mr. Dai is currently applying this method to ferment agricultural by-products as feed for cows and is initially effective.

This silage is used in combination with green vegetables, corn bran, and rice bran.
