Raising chickens on biological bedding earns 500 million/year

In 2010, Quynh and her husband boldly invested in developing the farm economy on the wild hill with 8 hectares, focusing on planting forests, raising chickens, frogs, goats and fish ponds. Especially raising more than 1,000 egg-laying chickens on biological bedding for high income.

Applying the biological bedding model will decompose organic substances in chicken waste, especially without causing bad odors, contributing to limiting environmental pollution, limiting some common diseases for livestock such as: diarrhea, cough, and rapid weight gain in chickens.

Ms. Quynh's farm area is guaranteed to be clean and environmentally safe.

Currently, with 4 rows of cages, Ms. Quynh's family raises over 1,000 egg-laying chickens. Thanks to being raised on biological bedding, the survival rate (from 1 day old) reaches 98.6%, the laying rate of the chickens increases rapidly, the egg productivity is estimated at 260-265 eggs/hen/year; the eggs are clean, hygienic, meeting food safety and consumer needs.

On average, her family collects 300-400 eggs per day. To meet the local livestock demand, she invested in buying a chicken incubator to supply chicks for her family farm and sell them to households in the area at the market price of 9,000 VND/chick. After deducting expenses, her family has an income of over 500 million VND per year.

Every year, Ms. Quynh's family earns 500 million VND from raising chickens.

According to Ms. Quynh's experience, raising egg-laying chickens on biological bedding reduces costs significantly and profits are 30% to 35% higher than traditional farming. This is a model suitable for livestock development, making use of agricultural by-products such as rice husks and sawdust in the direction of clean agriculture and sustainable development.
