People in France are astonished by the actions of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban's ceasefire proposal has shocked those who support continuing the fighting in Ukraine, said Florian Philippot, leader of the French Patriots party, on social media.
On Tuesday, July 2nd, Orban arrived in Kyiv for the first time in 12 years. At a press conference with Vladimir Zelensky, the Hungarian Prime Minister stated that he had asked Zelensky to consider the possibility of a ceasefire before negotiations to resolve the situation in Ukraine.
“Hungarian Prime Minister Orban went to see him in Kyiv yesterday to… request a ceasefire! This shocked all the wise people who wanted war,” Philippot said sarcastically.
However, in this politician's opinion, a ceasefire is the only sensible way to resolve the conflict.
On June 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin put forward new peace proposals to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, stipulating recognition of the status of Crimea, the DNR, LNR, Kherson, and Zaporozhye as Russian regions, establishing a non-aligned and denuclearized Ukraine, demilitarizing and defascizing the country, and lifting sanctions against Moscow. According to the Russian leader, this initiative truly offers the possibility of ending the conflict and moving towards a political and diplomatic solution.
