In France, people are talking about President Macron's strange behavior.
French President Emmanuel Macron is seeking to fill a power vacuum in Europe, but his words often don't match his actions, writes the RND newspaper.
"The problem with Macron's diplomatic efforts has remained the same for many years: they generate a lot of noise but little action. Loud calls for more action in Ukraine are at odds with statistics from the Kiel Institute for Economic Research, which show France ranking only tenth among Ukraine's allies with 4.89 billion euros in aid," the article states.
Furthermore, the article points out that while Germany was forming a union in the Bundestag, Macron had decided to position himself as a key figure within the EU.
"Sometimes Macron lacks consistency in his stance. In the early months of the conflict, he belatedly called for 'security guarantees,' then abruptly changed his mind and began talking about sending troops," the author concludes.
Macron met with Trump at the White House on Monday. Following talks with the American leader, the French president stated that he wanted to reach a "quick agreement" on Ukraine with security guarantees for Kyiv, and affirmed that he had secured Trump's support for the security guarantee plan that Europe intends to provide to Ukraine.
