Is it permissible for a car to have two long license plates?
Whether a car can have two long license plates is a question many people are interested in, as many vehicles are currently designed to only accommodate this type of plate.
Clause 3, Article 25 of Circular 58/2020/TT-BCA stipulates:“Vehicles are fitted with two short license plates, measuring 165mm in height and 330mm in length. In cases where the design of a specialized vehicle or its specific characteristics prevent the installation of two short plates, the vehicle registration authority will conduct a physical inspection and propose to the Director of the Traffic Police Department (for vehicles registered under the Traffic Police Department) or the Head of the Traffic Police Division (for vehicles registered locally) to switch to two long license plates, measuring 110mm in height and 520mm in length, or one short and one long license plate. Any resulting costs will be the responsibility of the vehicle owner.”.
According to this regulation, when a vehicle owner registers their vehicle, the registration authority will automatically issue two short license plates.
If you wish to install two long license plates simultaneously, one of the following conditions must be met: The vehicle's design is for a specialized purpose, or the vehicle's specific characteristics prevent the installation of two short license plates.

The latest license plate design is currently being implemented according to the regulations in Circular 58/2020/TT-BCA.
Accordingly, newly issued domestic vehicle license plates now consist of two groups of characters: letters and numbers.
The first group consists of the first two numbers and one letter: the first two numbers are the local vehicle registration code, and the letter is the registration serial number; the second group consists of five natural numbers from 000.01 to 999.99, which is the vehicle registration number.
There are currently two types of car license plates: short plates and long plates. Basically, these two types of plates differ only in the following characteristics:
