Suzuki revives the Ignis name for a new model with a design that blends crossover and MPV styles.

The car first appeared in 2015 at the Tokyo Motor Show as a concept, then showed up at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi (India) and the 2016 Paris Motor Show in Europe. The 2017 Ignis has been launched in several markets such as Japan, Europe and India.

Recently in Indonesia, paparazzi caught a tractor carrying a batch of Suzuki Ignis on the street. Most likely, this small and cheap car model will officially launch in Indonesia this month, with prices ranging from 139.5 - 169.5 million Rupiah, equivalent to 238 - 289 million VND.

Indonesia is considered the first export market for the Ignis of the Maruti Suzuki joint venture in India, because the Suzuki Ignis appearing in Indonesia are originally manufactured in India. According to leaked sources, the Suzuki Ignis in Indonesia will be divided into 3 versions with different corresponding prices: GL - 139.5 million Rupiah (238 million VND), GLX - 159.5 million Rupiah (272 million VND) and GLX AT - 169.5 million Rupiah (289 million VND).

Entering the Indonesian market, Suzuki Ignis is equipped with only one engine type, the 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder K-Series gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 83 horsepower and a maximum torque of 113 Nm. With the GL and GLX versions, this engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. As for the GLX AT version, the engine will be paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. According to testing in India, this engine consumes an average of 20.89 km/liter of gasoline, equivalent to 4.78 liters/100 km.

The top-end version of the Suzuki Ignis in Indonesia will have LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, fog lights with chrome trim, steering wheel with integrated audio control buttons, automatic air conditioning, infotainment system with 7-inch touch screen, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications. The car also has a series of safety features such as airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), electronic stability program (ESP) and lane departure warning system.

Suzuki Ignis will become a new rival to Honda Brio, Toyota Etios, Nissan March (Micra) and Mitsubishi Mirage.
