(Baonghean.vn) - A senior US official said President Barack Obama remains unchanged in his plans to attend the 21st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) to be held later this month in Paris, following a series of coordinated attacks on the French capital on November 13.

The COP21 conference (November 31 to December 11, 2015) was a major event, bringing together representatives from nearly 200 countries, including about 80 heads of state, to discuss issues related to mitigating climate change. This was also one of the top priorities of the Obama administration.

France is currently facing an unprecedentedly high risk of terrorism. Citing a French official, Reuters reported that security at the COP21 conference will be significantly tightened following the attacks in Paris on November 13th, which killed at least 127 people.

Earlier, on November 14, Iran's state news agency IRNA quoted Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif as saying that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had canceled his planned visits to Italy and France this weekend.
