Oezil receives Arsenal's Player of the Season award.

Midfielder Mesut Oezil has been voted Arsenal's best player of the 2015/16 season by fans, beating teammates Alexis Sanchez and Hector Bellerin.

Mesut Oezil had a very impressive season with Arsenal, scoring 8 goals and providing 20 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for the London club.

In addition, statistics show that the German player created 181 scoring opportunities for his teammates this season. Although Oezil's contributions did not prevent Arsenal from having a trophyless season, the Emirates Stadium team still secured the runner-up position in the Premier League, for the first time since the 2004/05 season.

In the Premier League, Oezil also leads the assists list with 19 assists, six more than the runner-up – midfielder Christian Eriksen (Tottenham). This achievement by Oezil almost equaled the record of 20 assists set by legend Thierry Henry in the 2002/03 season.

Furthermore, in the 0-0 draw against Southampton, Oezil alone created 10 scoring opportunities, setting a Premier League record for the most chances created in a single match. In addition, Oezil was nominated for the Player of the Year award by the English Players' Association, but lost out to Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez.
