Guavas and apples sell out quickly during Tet holiday.
(Baonghean.vn) - With selling prices ranging from 35,000 to 50,000 VND/kg for apples and guavas, which are 10,000 to 20,000 VND/kg higher than usual, guava and apple growers in Nam Dan district have run out of stock.
Having planted over 8 acres of Taiwanese guava using the fruit bagging technique, although only planted for over a year, the quality of guavas from Ms. Ho Thi Thuan's family in Hamlet 5, Nam Anh Commune (Nam Dan District) has already become known and trusted by many customers.

Ms. Thuan said that since mid-December in the lunar calendar, many customers have come to the orchard to place orders for both gifts and personal use. At a price of 30,000 VND/kg, her family earned over 10 million VND during this Tet holiday. Currently, many traders and customers are still coming to buy, but there is no more stock left. This Taiwanese guava variety bears fruit continuously, so her family will have guavas to sell again after Tet.

With an area of nearly 2 hectares, by this time, all the guavas of Mr. Vo Van Danh's family in Hamlet 8, Nam Xuan Commune, have been sold out. "They have a beautiful appearance, averaging over 0.5 kg per fruit, and are sweet, crispy, and have few seeds, so Taiwanese guavas are popular with customers. The selling price at the orchard during this period is from 30,000 to 35,000 VND/kg. Because guavas bear fruit year-round and are harvested consistently, only about 300 kg of guavas were sold to the market during Tet," Mr. Danh said.
Located along the roadside, apple orchards in Nam Tan commune (Nam Dan district) are also very popular, with prices at the orchard ranging from 35,000 to 50,000 VND/kg, depending on the variety, but many orchards are now starting to run out of stock.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, residing in Hamlet 7, Nam Tan Commune, said: "With an area of nearly 3 sao (approximately 3,000 square meters), my family earned over 70 million VND from this year's apple harvest. Currently, I have pruned some of the trees to encourage their continued growth for next year."
The high prices and rapid sales of guavas and apples during Tet (Lunar New Year) motivate farmers in Nam Dan to continue improving product quality to serve consumers in the coming years.
