The first week of the 26th Road to Olympia witnessed a dramatic competition, ending with the victory belonging to contestant Nguyen Anh Tu from Bac Ninh High School with a total score of 285. The thrilling score chase opened a promising new season.
Balanced and thrilling start
The contest in week 1, month 1, quarter 1 had the participation of four contestants: Nguyen Quang Hung (Khuong Dinh High School - Hanoi), Nguyen Anh Tu (Bac Ninh High School), Hoang Duy Anh (Cam Pha High School - Quang Ninh) and Ngo Tien Viet (Quang Xuong 1 High School - Thanh Hoa).
Right from the Warm-up round, all four contestants showed that they were equally knowledgeable and capable. After the rounds of questions, the scores were distributed quite evenly, with Tien Viet temporarily leading with 40 points, followed by Anh Tu and Duy Anh with 30 points, and Quang Hung with 20 points. The advantage only changed after the General Warm-up round, when Anh Tu took the lead with 45 points.
The turning point from Obstacle Course
The drama of the competition was heightened in the Obstacle Course with a 17-letter keyword. Immediately after the first horizontal row was revealed, Nguyen Anh Tu quickly pressed the bell and gave the correct answer, "Phu Dong Thien Vuong".
This excellent keyword decoding helped Anh Tu create a big breakthrough, taking the lead with 115 points, creating a safe distance from the remaining contestants.
Accelerate and consolidate position
With the change in the answer time in the Acceleration round, Anh Tu continued to show impressive performance. He answered all four questions correctly and scored a full 160 points. After this round, Anh Tu firmly consolidated his leading position with 275 points, far surpassing his opponents: Quang Hung (130 points), Tien Viet (120 points) and Duy Anh (75 points).
Dramatic finish line until the last minute
The Finish Line saw a thrilling chase for points. Anh Tu was unsuccessful with his question package, creating an opportunity for other contestants to break away. In particular, Ngo Tien Viet took advantage of the opportunity, winning points from the questions of his fellow contestants and successfully using the Hope Star, leveling the gap and at one point reaching 255 points.
However, in the last question of Duy Anh's contest, Anh Tu won the right to answer and gave the correct answer. This decisive scoring move helped Anh Tu raise his total score to 285, thereby officially winning the first laurel wreath of Olympia year 26.
