Father who abused 4-month-old son arrested
On the evening of February 11, Chau Minh Tien, 24 years old, was arrested by the police for intentionally causing injury to his 4-month-old son, causing the baby to have a broken leg and head injury.
Confessing to the investigation agency, Tien said that on the evening of February 3, he picked up his son Chau Minh Khoi from his wife's family to take care of him at his home in Long Phuoc ward, District 9, Ho Chi Minh City. After breastfeeding the child, he put the baby to sleep in a hammock.
Around 11pm, Khoi woke up and cried. Tien could not calm him down so he got angry and slapped him. The child cried even more, he continued to hit him, jerking the hammock, causing Khoi to fall to the ground. Seeing his child injured, Tien was so scared that he called his father to take him to the emergency room.
The victim was determined to have suffered 37% injuries.

Khoi was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries to his legs and face. Tien told doctors that he had fallen while lying in a hammock. He had a broken leg but could not be operated on because of other injuries and a brain hemorrhage. The injuries suggested that he had been abused, so doctors reported it to the police.
According to Ms. Nguyen Hong Tim (20 years old, Khoi's mother), she and Tien have been living as husband and wife for about 2 years. Since Khoi was born, he has beaten his child many times, and she was beaten when she tried to stop him. Recently, the two sides had a conflict, so she took Khoi back to her mother's house.
That day, she went to work as a waitress at a pub in the Suoi Tien area, more than 10 km from home, and left Khoi with his grandmother to look after. Then, Tien picked up his child and went home.
Tien's father said that at first they played happily together, but about an hour later he came over and said "Khoi is about to die" and had to be taken to the hospital. Tim only found out about it when her son was already in the hospital.
