The owner of a rice mill was doused with gasoline and set on fire to death.
The suspect, Tran Ngoc Tan, poured gasoline on the owner of the rice mill and then set him on fire, causing the victim's death.
On the morning of May 27, the Criminal Investigation Department of Cho Gao District Police (Tien Giang province) temporarily detained suspect Tran Ngoc Tan (34 years old, residing in Phu Kiet commune) for investigation into the act of "intentionally causing injury leading to death".

According to the initial investigation, on the afternoon of May 25th, after drinking alcohol, the suspect Tan went to the place where his mother worked at a local rice mill owned by Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh (68 years old).
Here, Tan prevented her mother from working at Mr. Thanh's factory. A conflict arose between mother and daughter, and Mr. Thanh intervened, leading to an argument with Tan.
Tan poured a 2-liter can of gasoline on Mr. Thanh and then lit him on fire. The owner of the rice mill suffered severe burns and was rushed to the hospital.
Later, Mr. Thanh was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) for treatment in a very serious condition due to burns.
Mr. Thanh passed away on the morning of May 27th.
