At noon on November 6, Vietnam time, the results of the 2024 presidential election in the US were finalized with Republican candidate Donald Trump winning convincingly.
According to VNA correspondent in the US, the preliminary vote count as of 1:30 p.m. showed that Mr. Trump had won the number of electoral votes exceeding the threshold of 270 electoral votes required by law, thereby defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris to become the 47th president of the United States.
The decisive victory took place in the battleground state of Pennsylvania with 19 electoral votes.
This is also Mr. Trump's second term as White House owner, after his first term from 2016-2020.
On Election Day, November 5, Mr. Trump had an excellent performance with a series of resounding victories in all 7 decisive battleground states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. This candidate won all 93 electoral votes in the above states.
Immediately after the results were announced, Mr. Trump gave a celebratory speech to a large crowd of supporters in Palm Beach, Florida.
It is expected that the electoral colleges in the states will meet on December 17 to cast their official electoral votes to elect candidate Trump as the next president of the United States.
Mr. Trump will be sworn in at Capitol Hill on January 20, 2025./.
