On December 24, tens of thousands of people, many dressed as "Santa Claus," protested throughout the streets of Seoul, demanding that President Park Geun-Hye, who had just been temporarily suspended from office, resign immediately.

According to organizers, the number of participants in the protest for the ninth consecutive week reached 550,000. Despite the freezing weather, with temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius, protesters marched toward the Blue House (Presidential Palace), the Prime Minister's Office, and the Constitutional Court, holding up banners and balloons, chanting slogans against President Park Geun-Hye, and urging the Constitutional Court to approve her impeachment.

Approximately 300 people dressed as "Santa Claus" handed out books and Christmas cards to children accompanying their parents in the protest march.

Previously, on December 9th, the South Korean National Assembly passed a motion to impeach President Park Geun-hye, resulting in her immediate and temporary suspension from the presidency. Current Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn has temporarily replaced her as the country's leader.

Although the impeachment focused on a corruption scandal involving the president's longtime friend, the decision also included the temporary suspension of President Park Geun-hye, who was accused of neglecting her duties by failing to adequately address the ferry sinking. She was criticized for not appearing in public until seven hours after the disaster occurred.

In a statement submitted to the court earlier this month, she asserted that there was clear evidence that she had instructed officials to take all necessary measures in the rescue operation. On December 22, the South Korean Constitutional Court began reviewing the National Assembly's vote to impeach President Park Geun-hye.
