Mr. Le Minh Tri was elected Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.
Mr. Le Minh Tri was elected by the National Assembly to hold the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court to replace Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh.
On August 26, at the 8th extraordinary session, the National Assembly completed a number of senior leadership positions, including the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.
The National Assembly conducted the process of electing the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court by secret ballot. Immediately after completing the prescribed steps, based on the vote counting results, the National Assembly discussed and voted to pass the resolution to elect the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term.
Accordingly, Mr. Le Minh Tri, Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee, was elected by the National Assembly to hold the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term with a vote of 438/438 delegates present in favor.
Then, Mr. Le Minh Tri performed the oath-taking ceremony.
"Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and the people and voters of the whole country, I - Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam swear: Absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the people, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, striving to fulfill well the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people", Mr. Le Minh Tri swore.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, on behalf of the National Assembly, acknowledged the oath of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Minh Tri.

According to the Law on Organization of People's Courts, the Supreme People's Court is the highest judicial body of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court is elected, dismissed, and removed by the National Assembly upon the proposal of the President. The term of office of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court follows the term of the National Assembly.
According to Article 77 of the Law on Organization of People's Courts, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court is responsible for organizing the trial work of the Supreme People's Court; is responsible for organizing the implementation of the principle that judges and jurors are independent in trial and only obey the law.
The Chief Justice also presides over the meeting of the Supreme People's Court's Judicial Council; has the right to appeal under the supervisory and retrial procedures against court judgments and decisions that have come into legal effect according to the provisions of law; and submit to the President proposals on cases where convicted persons request clemency of the death penalty.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court is also the person who has the right to submit to the National Assembly for approval the proposal to appoint, dismiss, or remove Supreme People's Court Judges; submit to the President the appointment, dismissal, or removal of Deputy Chief Justices of the Supreme People's Court, the appointment, dismissal, or removal of People's Court Judges...
Mr. Le Minh Tri was born in 1960; hometown Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City; professional qualification: Bachelor of Law, University of Security.
He is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat (from August 2024); a member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committee; and a National Assembly delegate for the 14th and 15th terms.
Before working at the Central level, Mr. Le Minh Tri had a long time working in Ho Chi Minh City, working at the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department, holding the position of Deputy Head of the Security Staff Department, then Deputy Head of Department A12b, Secretary of the Deputy Minister of Public Security.
After that, he worked as Secretary of the City Chairman, Deputy Chief of Office of the People's Council and People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, then Chairman of the People's Committee of District 11 and District 1.
He held the position of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee from January 2010 to April 2013, then went to the Central Government to work as Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission for 3 years.
In April 2016, Mr. Le Minh Tri was elected Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy and has held this position since then.
