With a majority of delegates voting in favor, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc was sworn in as Prime Minister this morning.

The vote count results were announced at just after 8:30 a.m., with 446 votes, representing 90% of the delegates, in favor of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc replacing Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung to lead the government for the next term.The resolution, presented by Secretary-General Nguyen Hanh Phuc, was passed with a 96% majority.

Therefore, based on the National Assembly's regulations, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc has been elected to the position of Prime Minister.The new Prime Minister quickly stepped onto the platform to begin his inauguration ceremony.

"I hereby swear: To be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the people, and to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam," Mr. Phuc read the oath.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc is 62 years old this year and hails from Quang Nam province. He is a member of the Central Committee of the Party for the 10th, 11th, and 12th terms; a member of the Politburo for the 11th and 12th terms; and a National Assembly delegate for the 11th and 13th terms.

After graduating from the National Economics University in Hanoi, he worked as an officer in the Quang Nam - Da Nang Economic Management Board, and later became the Chief of the Office of the Provincial People's Committee.

After completing his studies in public administration at the National Academy of Public Administration, he returned to work as Director of the Department of Tourism and Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Nam - Da Nang province. During this time, he continued his studies in economic management at the National University of Singapore.

From 1997 to 2009, Mr. Phuc served as Vice Chairman and Head of the Management Board of Industrial Zones in Quang Nam province, then as Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province for two terms, 1999-2004 and 2004-2009.

From March to May 2006, he served as Deputy Inspector General of the Government. At the 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, he was elected to the Central Committee of the Party.

For over a year, from June 2006 to August 2007, he was a member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Head of the Government Office, and a member of the Economic and Budget Committee of the 11th Party Congress.

He served as Head of the Government Office and Head of the Prime Minister's Task Force on Administrative Procedure Reform from August 2007 to 2011.At the 11th Party Congress, he was elected to the Politburo by the Central Committee.

At the first session of the 13th National Assembly in 2011, he was approved as Deputy Prime Minister.
