Pompeo: The US will impose new, stricter sanctions on Iran.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he would impose new sanctions and isolate Iran in response to the development of its nuclear program.
"The latest expansion of Iran's nuclear program will lead to further isolation and sanctions. Countries must restore the standards that once existed for Iran's nuclear program to not enrich itself," Pompeo wrote on Twitter.
"The Iranian regime, armed with nuclear weapons, would pose a greater danger to the world," the US Secretary of State added.
On May 8, Iran announced it had begun the first phase of terminating some agreements in its nuclear deal. Tehran explained that the measures were taken due to Washington's violation of the nuclear agreement and the imposition of sanctions on the country.
