"New technological solutions give rise to new risks. We see the global digital space often becoming the platform for intense information warfare, unfair competition, and cyberattacks. All of this fundamentally alters the international situation," Putin said on Friday at a meeting of the Russian Federal Security Council via video conference.
Potential threats
"The digital environment is being used by international terrorists and organized criminals. In other words, there are many potential threats to global security in general, but also to individual countries, including their sovereignty and national interests," Putin said.
He noted that Russia was one of the first countries to call on the international community to unite and work together in this field, which is new to the civilized world.
