Among the 38 people nominated by the Hanoi Fatherland Front (VFF) in the third round of consultation to run for the 14th National Assembly, there are 2 self-nominated candidates: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Ninh and medical doctor Nguyen Anh Tri - Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

On the morning of April 15, the 3rd Consultation Conference was organized by the Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee to select and make a list of qualified candidates for the 14th National Assembly and People's Council for the 2016-2021 term. At the end of the morning, the Conference agreed to introduce 38 candidates for the 14th National Assembly and 179 candidates for the People's Council for the 2016-2021 term.

According to Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee, on March 17, the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee held the second consultation conference to agree and establish a preliminary list of 87 candidates for the National Assembly, including 39 people introduced by the organizing agencies and units and 48 self-nominated candidates.

Through 85 conferences to collect opinions, comments and trust from voters at the place of residence for candidates, to collect opinions, comments and trust from voters at the workplace or workplace of self-nominated candidates, including 13 conferences of agencies, organizations, units where self-nominated candidates work or work and 72 conferences in the electoral area of villages and residential groups, Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh also affirmed that the conferences were organized within the prescribed time according to instructions and met all requirements.

Regarding the complaint, as of April 14, the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee has not received any conclusions about any cases of violations of the standards for candidates for the National Assembly from competent agencies.

According to Ms. Kim Oanh, by the end of April 12, out of a total of 87 candidates for the National Assembly, 15 candidates had submitted applications to withdraw their applications for the National Assembly (including 1 recommended candidate and 14 self-nominated candidates); 29 candidates did not meet the requirements for credibility. The remaining 43 candidates were all qualified to be selected to form the list of candidates for the 14th National Assembly.

In total, 43 people were selected to be eligible to run for the National Assembly, with the following allocation structure: 2 for key leaders; 2 for culture and arts; 5 for self-nominated candidates (6 for the total number of candidates).

The list of 6 self-nominated candidates in Hanoi includes: Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Ha Long Investment and Consulting Joint Stock Company; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nam, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of VP9 Vietnam Joint Stock Company; Mr. Ta Hong Phuc, expert, market development consultant; Mr. Tran Dang Tuan, Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of An Vien Program Production Joint Stock Company, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Social-Charity Fund "Poor Students in the Highlands"; Mr. Nguyen Huu Ninh, Professor - Doctor, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center for Research on Environmental Education and Development under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Medical Doctor Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

However, based on Clause 6, Article 75 of the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies, based on Resolution 53/NQ-HDBCQG, and the announcement of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the candidates for National Assembly Deputies introduced by the Central Committee are 13 people, the total number of candidates for National Assembly Deputies in Hanoi needed is 38 people.

The conference unanimously agreed to allow 15 people to withdraw their applications; 29 candidates who did not meet the trust criteria of voters at their place of residence and selected 38 out of 43 people (withdrawing 5 people) who were qualified to run for the 14th National Assembly.

Among the 38 candidates nominated by the Hanoi Fatherland Front for the 14th National Assembly, 2 are self-nominated. They are Mr. Nguyen Huu Ninh, visiting professor at San Diego State University, USA; honorary professor at Pecs University, Hungary and Nguyen Tat Thanh University. The second person is medical doctor Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, who has made many contributions to charity work.

The conference also agreed to consult 179 candidates for People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term.

Thus, journalist Tran Dang Tuan, who ran for the National Assembly himself and was previously trusted by 100% of voters in his place of residence, was not on the list of 38 people recommended by the Hanoi Fatherland Front to run for the 14th National Assembly after the third round of consultation.
