Among the 38 people nominated by the Hanoi City Fatherland Front (Hanoi City Fatherland Front) in the third round of consultations to run for the 14th National Assembly, there are two self-nominated candidates: Professor Dr. Nguyen Huu Ninh and Doctor Nguyen Anh Tri - Director of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

On the morning of April 15th, the 3rd consultative conference organized by the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee aimed to select and compile a list of qualified candidates for the 14th National Assembly and the People's Council for the 2016-2021 term. By the end of the morning session, the conference unanimously agreed to nominate 38 candidates for the 14th National Assembly and 179 candidates for the People's Council for the 2016-2021 term.

According to Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee, on March 17, the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee held its second consultative meeting to agree on and compile a preliminary list of 87 candidates for the National Assembly, including 39 nominated by agencies and organizations and 48 self-nominated candidates.

Through conducting 85 conferences to gather feedback and build trust among voters in their residential areas regarding candidates, and among voters in their workplaces or places of employment for self-nominated candidates, including 13 conferences at the agencies, organizations, and units where self-nominated candidates work, and 72 conferences in elected villages and residential areas, Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh also affirmed that the conferences were organized within the prescribed time frame and met all requirements.

Regarding complaints, as of April 14th, the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee had not received any conclusions from competent authorities regarding violations of the standards for candidacy for National Assembly representatives.

According to Ms. Kim Oanh, as of April 12th, out of a total of 87 candidates for the National Assembly, 15 had withdrawn their applications (including 1 nominated candidate and 14 self-nominated candidates); 29 candidates did not meet the required confidence vote. The remaining 43 candidates all met the criteria for selection to be included in the list of candidates for the 14th National Assembly.

Out of a total of 43 people on the shortlist for the National Assembly, the distribution is as follows: 2 key leaders; 2 from the arts and culture sector; and 5 self-nominated candidates (the total number of candidates is 6).

The list of six self-nominated candidates in Hanoi includes: Mr. Nguyen Quang Huan, Chairman and General Director of Ha Long Investment and Consulting Joint Stock Company; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nam, Chairman and Director of VP9 Vietnam Joint Stock Company; Mr. Ta Hong Phuc, expert and market development consultant; Mr. Tran Dang Tuan, Chairman and General Director of An Vien Program Production Joint Stock Company, Chairman of the Management Board of the "Poor Children in Highland Areas" Social-Charitable Fund; Mr. Nguyen Huu Ninh, Professor and Doctor, Chairman of the Management Board of the Center for Environmental Education and Development Research under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; and Dr. Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

However, based on Clause 6, Article 75 of the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies, and Resolution 53/NQ-HĐBCQG, and the announcement of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the number of candidates nominated by the Central Committee for the National Assembly is 13, bringing the total number of candidates for the National Assembly in Hanoi to 38.

The conference unanimously agreed to accept the withdrawal requests of 15 candidates; 29 candidates who did not meet the required voter confidence standards in their place of residence; and selected 38 out of 43 (5 withdrew) who met the eligibility criteria to run for the 14th National Assembly.

Among the 38 people nominated by the Hanoi City Fatherland Front to run for the 14th National Assembly, two are self-nominated. They are Mr. Nguyen Huu Ninh, a visiting professor at San Diego State University, USA; honorary professor at Pecs University, Hungary and Nguyen Tat Thanh University; and Dr. Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, who has made significant contributions to charitable work.

The conference also unanimously agreed to nominate 179 candidates for the People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term.

Thus, journalist Tran Dang Tuan, who ran as an independent candidate for the National Assembly and had previously received 100% of the votes from voters in his residential area, was not included in the list of 38 people nominated by the Hanoi City Fatherland Front to run for the 14th National Assembly after the third round of consultations.
