Trump may reverse sanctions against Russia.

According to TASS, on December 30, Frants Klintsevich, First Deputy Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the Federation Council (Senate) of Russia, stated that US President-elect Donald Trump may reverse the new sanctions recently imposed on Moscow by the outgoing administration of Barack Obama.

Speaking to reporters, Senator Klintsevich said: "This is a major shift, in which Donald Trump will reverse the latest sanctions against Russia after he takes office. Trump will not be willing to accept that accusation, especially when it is not true."

Earlier, Washington announced new sanctions against Moscow related to allegations that Russia was behind a series of cyberattacks targeting US political entities.

A senior, unnamed U.S. official said on December 29 that the U.S. had expelled 35 Russian diplomats and closed two Russian facilities in New York City and Maryland that were allegedly used for intelligence activities.

Later, Trump called on America to "move on" and reconcile, and said he would meet with the head of the country's intelligence agency to find out the truth about allegations of Russian interference in the US election.
