Trump hopes the conflict in Ukraine will not escalate into nuclear war.

According to RIA Novosti on June 7, US President Donald Trump expressed hope that the conflict in Ukraine would not escalate into a nuclear conflict following recent attacks on Kyiv. Trump emphasized that he did not like them.

"I hope not. I hope so," President Trump told reporters, commenting on a question about the threat of the conflict in Ukraine escalating into a nuclear conflict.

At the same time, the American leader directly indicated that he disliked Ukraine's recent attacks on Russia. However, Trump expressed hope that Russia would not cease negotiations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

"I think Russia is not going to stop negotiating a deal," President Trump said about the process of resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

The US president added that, if necessary, he is still considering the possibility of imposing additional sanctions on Moscow.

President Donald Trump said he considered the Senate bill on new sanctions against Russia to be "very strong," but that he was the one who would decide to impose new restrictions on Moscow.

"They have a bill. It's up to me. This is my choice. This is a very powerful bill," President Trump told reporters at the White House on June 6.

President Trump also added that he was not asking the Senate to ease the restrictions imposed by the legislative initiative.

Earlier, on June 6, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration was asking Republican Senator Lindsey Graham to ease sanctions against Russia in a new bill. According to the publication, the White House is concerned that tightening sanctions would harm Trump's efforts to establish dialogue with Moscow and end the Ukraine conflict.
