Mr. Trump said he had decided to supply Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump said he had decided to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk long-range missiles, but needed to know how they would be used.

According to RIA Novosti, US President Donald Trump said on October 6 that he had actually made the decision to supply Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, but wanted to understand how Kyiv intended to use them.
"I've made my decision. However, I want to know what they're going to do with them, where they're going to be sent," President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House on October 6 in response to a question about the Tomahawk missiles.
At the same time, the US President reiterated that he does not want to see the conflict escalate in Ukraine.
In September 2025, US Vice President JD Vance stated that the White House was discussing the possibility of transferring Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, but President Donald Trump would make the final decision. Meanwhile, Trump's envoys, such as Keith Kellogg, clarified that there was no solution to the problem yet.
According to the Telegraph, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky requested Tomahawk missiles during a meeting with the US President in mid-September. The Axios news portal wrote that this was the only point in Kyiv's request that President Trump rejected, while he expressed support for other requests.
According to the Washington Post, the White House chief said he was willing to lift restrictions on the use of U.S. long-range weapons to strike deep into Russia, but did not make a direct commitment to modify the current restrictions.
At a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club in late September, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Ukrainian armed forces' use of Tomahawk missiles was impossible without the participation of American servicemen. In any case, Russia is ready to respond to any aggressive actions: It has adapted its domestic air defense systems to ATACMS missiles and will continue to adapt them to this weapon.
