Trump vows to make Greenland 'great again'.

According to RIA Novosti on January 7, US President-elect Donald Trump confirmed that his son, Donald Trump Jr., will visit the Danish island of Greenland and pledged to restore the island to its former greatness.

Earlier, DR Broadcasting reported that Donald Trump's son would arrive in Greenland on January 7th for a private visit.

"My son, Donald Jr., and many other representatives will be going there to visit some of the most magnificent sights," Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

According to Trump, “if and when” Greenland becomes part of the United States, the people there will benefit greatly.

The US President-elect added: “We will take care of it and protect it from the dangerous outside world. We will make Greenland great again.”

Greenland was under Danish ownership until 1953. In 2009, the island gained autonomy, granting it the ability to self-govern and make independent choices about its internal politics. While legally entitled to declare independence, concerns remain about its economic sustainability, given Greenland's heavy reliance on fishing and annual subsidies from Denmark, which account for approximately two-thirds of its budget.

Trump previously called the US acquisition of Greenland "absolutely essential." Danish lawmakers called Trump's statement "unacceptable." Meanwhile, Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede said the island is not for sale and will never be sold.

Múte Egede even called for the island's independence from Denmark after US President-elect Donald Trump reaffirmed his interest in purchasing the Arctic territory.
