OpenAI hits $12 billion in annual revenue, doubling in just 7 months
According to The Information, OpenAI has doubled its revenue in the first 7 months of the year, reaching 12 billion USD/year. Microsoft and major investors continue to pour capital into AI.
ChatGPT maker OpenAI nearly doubled its revenue in the first seven months of this year to $12 billion in annual revenue, according to a report from The Information on Wednesday. Reuters could not immediately confirm the report, and OpenAI declined to comment.

This figure implies that OpenAI is generating $1 billion a month. The report also said that the company has about 700 million weekly active users for its ChatGPT products, which are used by both consumers and enterprise customers.
The Microsoft-backed company increased its cash burn forecast to about $8 billion by 2025, up $1 billion from its previous forecast earlier this year, The Information said.
OpenAI is attracting investors for the second part of its $30 billion funding round, with shareholders Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global Management reportedly investing hundreds of millions of dollars in the round.
Investors, in addition to Japan's SoftBank (9984.T), are close to finalizing a $7.5 billion commitment for that second round of funding. The Japanese conglomerate has agreed to invest a total of $32 billion in OpenAI since its initial investment in the fall of 2024.
