Oscar scored on his debut for the Chinese club.
The Brazilian player opened the scoring, helping Shanghai SIPG secure a 3-0 victory over Sukhothai on the afternoon of February 7th, advancing to the next round of the AFC Champions League.
In the 34th minute, receiving a well-placed through ball from Odil Ahmedov, Oscar calmly controlled the ball before unleashing a diagonal shot that beat the Sukhothai goalkeeper, opening the scoring in Shanghai SIPG's resounding home victory.
Prior to this goal, Oscar had scored a goal for Shanghai SIPG against Saudi Arabian team Al Batin.January 9thBut that was just a friendly match during the Chinese club's pre-season training camp in Doha.
Yesterday's AFC Champions League match against Shukhothai was Oscar's first official game in his new colors and also his debut for the home fans in Shanghai. Earlier in January, the Brazilian player joined Shanghai SIPG from Chelsea for $76 million, earning a weekly salary of $490,000.
"We got the win we expected. The important thing is that the team qualified for the group stage. Of course, we could have played even better, but this was only the first game of the season for the team and for me personally," Oscar shared after the victory.

Coach Villas-Boas believes Oscar's goal was the turning point of the match. "We started a bit confused, making many mistakes. But the opening goal put everything back on track. My team played better in the second half than in the first and deserved to win," said the former Tottenham coach.
In the group stage, Shanghai SIPG will face Seoul (South Korea), Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan), and Western Sydney Wanderers (Australia). The Chinese team is highly regarded, boasting many renowned players such as Oscar, Hulk, and Elkeson.
