This source indicates that the official name of Russia's fifth-generation multirole fighter jet, the T-50, will be Su-57. This official name was supposed to be announced during President Vladimir Putin's visit to the MAKS-2017 international air show. However, the President's plans changed, and he did not attend the show. Therefore, the announcement of the new name was postponed until now.
Experts from Sukhoi, who researched and created the T-50, a fifth-generation fighter jet, have announced that flight tests have been successful and they are completing the final preparations for the launch of this masterpiece and moving towards mass production.
According to sources from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the armed forces need at least 200 Su-57s. However, they will be produced in different phases to suit the country's situation.
This phase may only involve limited production. According to Yuri Slyusar, Chairman of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), because the engine design for the fifth-generation fighter jet is not yet complete, the first batch of Su-57s delivered to the Russian Air Force consisted of only 12 aircraft. Once the engine specifically designed for them is finalized, mass production will begin, and they will be widely deployed to the armed forces.
The Su-57 (PAK FA T-50) fifth-generation fighter jet is a true breakthrough in Russian military research and development. It is the result of a combination of the most advanced technologies and Russian engineers.
Russia's Su-57 is far superior to the American fifth-generation F-22 and F-35 fighter jets in several areas, particularly in its advanced weapons systems and electronic warfare capabilities, and military experts believe it will become the newest and most powerful aircraft of the 21st century.
The source also added that Russian researchers have begun work related to the development of a sixth-generation fighter jet.
