Pakistan: At least 13 people die after eating poisoned candy.

(Baonghean.vn) - Local Pakistani media reported on April 22nd that at least 13 people have died in the past two days after eating poisoned candy in Layyah district, Punjab province, in eastern Pakistan.

Meanwhile, 25 people who suffered food poisoning are still being treated in hospital, some of whom are believed to be in critical condition.

A resident of Karor Lal Esan village in Layyah district shared candy with relatives to celebrate the birth of his son. All those who ate the candy vomited and had to be hospitalized. Doctors believe the candy contained some kind of poison.

Following the incident, police searched the candy shop and arrested the confectioner, while also sending candy samples to a laboratory. Punjab Governor Shahbaz Sharif expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and instructed authorities to investigate the matter.
