Pape Omar has been suspended for 8 matches and may have all his salary and bonuses cut.
The act of slapping a Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN player resulted in FLC Thanh Hoa captain Pape Omar receiving an 8-match suspension and a 30 million VND fine. Furthermore, the striker may have all his salary and bonuses cut by his club during the suspension period.

In the 33rd minute of the match between Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN and FLC Thanh Hoa, striker Pape Omar of the visiting team raised his leg high against Nhat Nam. This foul resulted in a yellow card warning from referee Xuan Nguyen. Immediately afterwards, during an argument with a Sanna Khanh Hoa player, Omar lost his temper and slapped captain Tran Van Vu of the coastal team in the face.
This unsportsmanlike conduct resulted in the Senegalese striker receiving a second yellow card and being sent off. Before leaving the field, the player also made provocative and uncivilized gestures towards the spectators in the stands at the August 19th Stadium.
These actions led to a severe retrospective punishment from the VFF Disciplinary Committee. Specifically, according to Decision No. 30/QD-LDBDVN on disciplinary action against Pape Omar Faye, issued today by the VFF Disciplinary Committee, the player will be suspended for the next 8 matches and fined 30 million VND for his unsportsmanlike and provocative behavior towards the spectators.
Furthermore, Omar also faces another very heavy penalty from his club, FLC Thanh Hoa. Accordingly, the striker is highly likely to have all his salary and bonuses cut during the period of his suspension (lasting approximately two and a half months – equivalent to several hundred million VND).
