Paris will not give advance notice of an attack on Syria should such a decision be made, said French government spokesman Christoph Castaner.

"If a decision is made about the attack, I will not inform you. And the French President will not tell you this either. At least he (Emmanuel Macron) will discuss this with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and the Minister of Defense," Castaner said on BFMTV.
According to him, announcing an attack on Syria would jeopardize the success of the operation."If all the conditions are met for an attack, then the attack will take place. The House of Representatives and the Senate will be notified at the appropriate time. But it is crucial to maintain secrecy, as this is a matter of protecting French interests," Castaner said.
Previously, the West accused Damascus of carrying out a "chemical attack" in the city of Douma in Eastern Ghouta, Syria.
Moscow and Damascus vehemently deny reports of a "chlorine bomb discovery" that appears to have been "used by the Syrian army."
