Authorities in Nghe An province have busted a major illegal lottery and gambling ring, arresting 8 suspects and seizing over 1.3 billion VND in transaction money.
The Nghe An Provincial Police have successfully cracked a gambling ring operating through lottery and number betting in Giai Lac commune, arresting 8 suspects. Initial investigations indicate that the amount of money the suspects used for gambling in a single day reached over 1.3 billion VND.
On December 17, 2025, the Office of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Nghe An Provincial Police announced that, in coordination with the Giai Lac Commune Police, they successfully dismantled a gambling ring involving lottery and number betting, arresting eight related individuals.
The arrested individuals include: Pham Thi Hop (born 1973), Tran Van Bac (born 1974), Nguyen Duc Tuan (born 1990), Phan Cong Thu (born 1978), Nguyen Sy Thinh (born 1976), all residing in Giai Lac commune, Nghe An province; Tran Duc Hao (born 1968), residing in Chu ward, Bac Ninh province; Nguyen Cong Chung (born 1981), residing in Yen Thanh commune, Nghe An province; and Nguyen Thi Loan (born 1982), residing in Tan An ward, Dak Lak province.
During the search, authorities seized 10 mobile phones used as evidence in gambling activities. Initially, the police determined that on December 15, 2025, the amount of money the suspects used for gambling in the form of lottery and number betting was 1,330,410,000 VND.
Currently, the Investigation Police Department of Nghe An province is finalizing the case files to prosecute the suspects according to the law.
