Authorities busted a large-scale operation producing and selling counterfeit coffee.

On May 11th, the Economic Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police announced that they had successfully cracked a case involving the large-scale production and sale of counterfeit coffee in Quang Tri province.

According to the police, after gathering sufficient documents and evidence, task forces from the Economic Police Department simultaneously executed urgent search warrants at three locations producing and selling counterfeit coffee in Quang Tri province and Ho Chi Minh City; they also investigated dozens of other locations selling counterfeit coffee in the area.

Police seized nearly 600 kilograms of brown powder suspected to be fake coffee, along with thousands of packaging bags bearing various coffee brand labels.

Initially, authorities identified the ringleader as Nguyen Xuan Thanh (born in 1982), residing at 80 Binh Tri Dong Street, Ho Chi Minh City. The individuals involved include Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy (born in 1988) - Thanh's sister, and Le Thi Dinh - Thanh's mother, both residing in Nam Dong Ha Ward, Quang Tri Province.

During searches of the suspects' homes and investigations at coffee distribution points, the police seized nearly 600 kg of brown powder suspected to be counterfeit coffee, along with thousands of packaging bags bearing various coffee brand labels and numerous tools and machinery used in the production of counterfeit goods.

Currently, the case is being further investigated by the Economic Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police.
