Authorities busted a cattle theft ring worth 65 million VND.

(Baonghean.vn) - On December 26th, the Tan Ky District Police successfully solved a cattle theft case and returned the stolen cattle to the victims.

Accordingly, during the period (May to June 2016), several cases of cattle theft occurred in Tan Ky district, causing panic and anxiety among the people and negatively affecting social order and security in the area.

Nguyen Dinh Nghiem and Nguyen Van Viet, residing in Quy Hop district, committed two cases of cattle theft.

The perpetrators' modus operandi involved taking advantage of families living near main roads, who were careless in managing their livestock pens, and whose homeowners were asleep, to steal cattle. After committing the crime, the perpetrators quickly escaped, making the investigation difficult.

In response to the situation, the Tan Ky District Police Command directed the Criminal, Economic, and Narcotics Investigation Team to coordinate with Traffic Police Team No. 3 of the PC67 Department to establish Special Case 616B to focus forces on combating the crime.

After a period of investigation, on December 26th, the special task force issued an arrest warrant for Nguyen Dinh Nghiem (born in 1974), residing in Quy Hop town; and Nguyen Van Viet (born in 1973), residing in Chau Quang commune, Quy Hop district. It is known that Nguyen Dinh Nghiem had previously received a 36-month suspended sentence for theft, and Nguyen Van Viet had received a 5-month suspended sentence for gambling. The suspects confessed to committing two cattle thefts in Tan Ky district, valued at approximately 65 million VND.

Currently, the Tan Ky District Police have seized one 24-seater car with license plate 37 B-01542, which is evidence in the aforementioned theft cases, and returned one buffalo to Mr. Le Chu Hai, Hamlet 11, Nghia Hanh Commune (Tan Ky).

The Tan Ky District Police Investigation Agency is continuing to expand the investigation into the case.
