Police bust 1.2 trillion VND football betting ring led by notorious gangster Hieu 'De'.
Police determined that during its nearly two years of operation, the football betting ring led by Hieu "De" had transaction amounts of approximately 1,200 billion VND.
On January 21st, the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security announced that it had dismantled a large-scale football betting ring operating through the agbong88 website in Dong Nai province and other southern provinces and cities.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department has initiated legal proceedings against 16 individuals for the crimes of "Organizing gambling" and "Gambling".

Investigators have identified the ringleader of this gambling operation as Hieu "De," whose real name is Tran Trung Hieu (35 years old, residing in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai province), who previously had a conviction for "Intentional infliction of injury."
Accordingly, after a long period of establishing a special investigation case, the Criminal Police Department, in coordination with the Dong Nai Provincial Police, Special Task Force No. 2 of the Mobile Police Command, and the police of several provinces and cities, simultaneously raided and searched locations in Dong Nai.
The police seized evidence including over 1.1 billion VND, 20 mobile phones, 1 laptop, 1 CPU, and other related items and documents.

Investigators have clarified that, starting in late 2023, Hieu "De" registered and created a Super Master account (NC84) on the agbong88 betting website of the international bookmaker IBET. He then subdivided this account into numerous sub-accounts and distributed them to lower-level individuals to organize gambling activities in Dong Nai and several other provinces and cities.
From the end of 2023 to the present, the total amount of money used by these individuals for gambling is approximately 1,200 billion VND.
Hieu "De"'s gambling ring brought together many notorious individuals with numerous previous convictions and criminal records from various localities; according to the special investigation team, it operated professionally and complexly with sophisticated methods and tactics.
The Criminal Police Department is expanding its investigation and urging those involved to surrender soon in order to benefit from the leniency policy of the law.
