Breaking up a fake pharmaceutical production and trading ring worth tens of billions of dong
An inter-provincial counterfeit drug production and trading ring worth tens of billions of dong has just been discovered and dismantled by Ho Chi Minh City Police.
On July 12, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department of Investigation of Crimes of Corruption, Economic Crimes and Smuggling (PC03) is detaining Quach Ngoc Giao (55 years old, residing in District 10) and 9 others to investigate the production and sale of fake pharmaceuticals.

According to the police, previously, PC03 caught Giao red-handed transporting a carton containing 300 boxes of Fugacar medicine to deliver to a customer.
During an emergency search of Giao's residence, warehouse and 19 locations in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An Province, and Tien Giang Province, the authorities discovered a large quantity of fake pharmaceuticals with famous brands, used to treat cardiovascular diseases, respiratory infections, and blood pressure. Most of the drugs were packaged in packages, ready to be released to the market.

Initially, the suspects confessed to purchasing drug ingredients from Vietnamese pharmaceutical companies, then changing the packaging, stamps, and labels to look like imported drugs. After the finished products were made, the group transported the drugs to a warehouse and sold them at high prices.
Initially, police estimated the value of the seized exhibits to be tens of billions of dong.
