(Baonghean.vn) - On January 12th, the Yen Thanh District Police arrested Nguyen Van Tho (born in 1981), residing in Dong Cau hamlet, Lang Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district), on charges of theft. The seized evidence included 220 million VND in cash.

Previously, on January 9th, the Yen Thanh District Police received a report from Mr. Tran Nguyen Giap (born in 1983), residing in Dong Cau hamlet, Lang Thanh commune, regarding a break-in at his home where thieves broke open a safe and stole cash and gold.

Upon receiving the report, the task force of the Criminal Police Team of Yen Thanh District Police arrived at the scene and, in coordination with the Lang Thanh Commune Police, collected evidence, recorded the victim's statement, and implemented professional investigative measures to handle the case.

During the screening process, police officers in Yen Thanh district noticed that Nguyen Van Tho (born in 1981), residing in Dong Cau hamlet, Lang Thanh commune, showed many suspicious behaviors regarding his time and money. However, when questioned, Tho vehemently denied the allegations and claimed he was not involved in the aforementioned incident.

However, during the investigation, based on crucial information provided by the public, it was revealed that a year prior, Tho had broken into his family's safe because he had lost the key. According to this information, Tho used a crowbar (a short iron bar flattened at one end) to successfully break open the safe.

Based on the evidence gathered from the safe theft at Mr. Giap's house, there are many similarities with the safe-breaking at Tho's family home. Furthermore, during the investigation, the police noticed that Tho's hands had numerous scratches and abrasions from contact with hard objects, and his fingernails had many grains of sand that matched the sand found inside Mr. Giap's safe.

Based on the evidence gathered, on January 12th, the Yen Thanh District Police issued an urgent arrest warrant for Nguyen Van Tho for the crime of theft.

At the police station, faced with irrefutable evidence and sharp investigative techniques, Tho was forced to confess to his crime. While Mr. and Mrs. Giap were working in the fields, Tho broke the window, used a crowbar to pry open the safe, and stole 220 million VND.

The case is currently being investigated by the Yen Thanh District Police to prosecute the suspect according to the law.
