In early May 2017, through professional measures, detectives of the General Investigation Team of Thai Hoa Town Police identified the subjects who often came to Giot Dang Coffee Shop to gamble all night long, mainly from Nghia Tien and Tay Hieu communes (Thai Hoa Town). Notably, among the gamblers above, there was Ha Van Nam (40 years old), residing in Hung Xuan hamlet, Tay Hieu commune, who had a previous conviction for gambling.
Receiving information that on the evening of May 5, Ha Van Nam and gamblers from some neighboring communes would gather at Giot Dang coffee shop to gamble with each other by playing cards, detectives from the General Investigation Team of Thai Hoa Town Police caught the above subjects red-handed.
After more than 2 hours of ambush, using professional measures, the scouts neutralized 2 subjects on guard duty outside the perimeter and quickly approached the target, controlled and caught Nam and his group red-handed while they were bowing their heads and fighting each other.

Taking advantage of the gap, the two subjects quickly jumped through the door to escape but were controlled by undercover detectives. Evidence seized at the gambling table included 17,900,000 VND and a deck of playing cards. Searching the subjects, the authorities seized a large amount of cash and valuable assets.
That same night, the gamblers and related evidence were brought to the Thai Hoa Town Police Investigation Agency for investigation and clarification. Here, the subjects declared their names as Phan Trong Toan (born in 1967) residing in Hamlet 3, Nguyen Cong Quy (born in 1984) residing in Hamlet 6, Pham Van Trung (born in 1984) residing in Hamlet 1 (same as Nghia Tien Commune); Nguyen Van Duc (born in 1971) residing in Hung Thanh Hamlet and Ha Van Nam (born in 1978) residing in Hung Xuan Hamlet (same as Tay Hieu Commune).
After consolidating the case file, recently, the Thai Hoa Town Police Department initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the above defendants for gambling to continue expanding the investigation. After the defendants were prosecuted, the coffee shop owner Nguyen Thi Hien also came to the investigation agency to surrender for gambling. The shop owner confessed that she was the one who lent money to the gamblers if needed to get interest./.
