On the afternoon of January 3, the Criminal Police Department (PC45) of Ho Chi Minh City Police, said that it had coordinated with Binh Thanh District Police to break up a gambling organization in the form of playing Poker for money organized by Tran Tuan Anh (27 years old, residing in Tan Binh District), Tran Nguyen Anh Tu (26 years old, residing in District 7) and Nguyen Tan Phat (31 years old, residing in District 9), temporarily detaining 21 people involved.

According to PC45, through the work of grasping the situation, recently the form of Poker (a type of card game similar to Thirteen) has emerged when "Bride and Poker Clubs" appeared in many places, hiding disguised gambling activities that have caused public outrage in recent times.

Hire beautiful girls, female students to serve rich men

Based on the verification results and collected documents, at 5:20 p.m. on December 29, 2017, PC45 forces coordinated with Binh Thanh District Police to discover a gambling organization in the form of Poker for money organized by Tuan Anh, Anh Tu, and Tan Phat at a luxury apartment building in Ward 22 (Binh Thanh District), and made a record to temporarily detain 21 people involved (including 3 Vietnamese Americans).

At the scene, the police seized evidence including 522 plastic chips (equivalent to more than 530 million VND), a box of chips with 57 chips (equivalent to 100 million VND), a table used for playing Poker, many chairs for gamblers, a box used to hold chips, two books recording the amount of chips exchanged and the debts of gamblers, and many used decks of cards.

Continuing to check the people involved, the police seized more than 318 million VND, 3,400 USD, 17 bank cards, 2 passports, 21 mobile phones of various types and many other related exhibits.

Through investigation, the involved people who were detained (including the organizer, the "fire" - dealer and the big gamblers) all admitted their crimes.

This is considered a high-class casino for wealthy people such as overseas Vietnamese, businessmen, business owners, employees of large companies in the city...

At the time of the casino raid, the police detained four beautiful girls who were tasked with "igniting" the gambling tycoons. The "igniting" girls were sought after by the casino organizers, including fresh female students and beautiful young girls who used to work as receptionists for large companies.

Most of these "cool" girls, previously knew people in the Poker Clubs that were established recently. And, it was these girls who invited the rich people to participate in gambling activities at the luxury apartments...

Gamblers bet 100 million VND/game!

According to PC45, Tuan Anh, Tan Phat and Anh Tu were the three ringleaders, pooling together about 400 million VND to organize a poker gambling casino at a luxury apartment building in Ward 22, Binh Thanh District.

Tuan Anh signed the contract to rent this apartment for 850 USD/month. The source of customers (gamblers) was attracted and enticed by Tuan Anh, Tan Phat and Anh Tu to the casino to gamble.

Gamblers who come to play are guaranteed safety by the organizers because the luxury apartment operates with fingerprints, personal magnetic cards and has strict control over who enters and leaves the apartment...

The casino has been in operation for about 2 months, operating daily (from 12 noon to 4 am the next morning). It regularly attracts 10-20 big gamblers to participate in gambling every day. Each game has 9 gamblers and a minimum of 2 gamblers participating.

Organizers stipulate that gamblers participating in gambling must buy chips with a minimum amount of 5 million VND. On average, each gambler bets an amount ranging from 10-100 million VND/game.

Every day, Tuan Anh hired Nguyen Vi Tuyen (also known as Sy, 25 years old, living in Binh Chanh district) to help exchange chips into money for gamblers (exchange for cash or transfer) and record the chip exchange book and debt book.

Tuyen is not paid a salary but receives a percentage of the "tips" (or "tips" for the waiters) from the gamblers.

Tuan Anh also hired Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nhieu (30 years old, living in Kien Giang province) to serve food and drink to everyone at the casino. Tuan Anh paid Nhieu 10 million VND/month, including meals.

Tuan Anh hunted down and assigned four beautiful young girls, Nguyen Thao Nguyen (24 years old, living in Ben Tre province), Nguyen Phuong Thao (24 years old, living in Phu Nhuan district), Pham Nguyen Minh Ha (25 years old, living in district 1) and Doan Phuong Uyen (23 years old, living in Hanoi) to "fire up" the rich gamblers at the casino in shifts (each shift is 1 hour).

The income of the "hot" girls mainly comes from receiving a very generous percentage of "tips" from the rich gamblers after their service shift. On "lucky" days, the "hot" girls also have the obligation to share the "tips" with Tuan Anh.

Hire people to be "decoy" gamblers

Talking about the way of playing and gambling tricks, PC45 said that when gamblers come to gamble, they will meet Tuyen to exchange cash for chips.

When entering the Poker table, the "hot" girls will deal cards to the gamblers to bet with each other. Then the "hot" girls will open their cards and compare their scores (the scoring method is similar to playing Xap Xam).

For known big gamblers, when needed, casino organizers can buy chips on credit and pay later. The payment can be made in cash or by bank transfer to Tuan Anh, Tan Phat and Anh Tu.

Tuan Anh agreed with the gamblers to collect 4% of the winnings of each bet (but the maximum is 400,000 VND). On average, each week, the collected amount is from 150-250 million VND. This total income is shared by Tuan Anh, Tan Phat and Anh Tu.

Also according to PC45, during the investigation, the police discovered that there were gamblers participating in gambling but were actually "decoys" arranged by the organizers.

Specifically, these people pretend to be gamblers participating in gambling at the casino to both attract and stimulate gamblers to participate, betting on each other with large amounts of money...

A new form of disguised gambling

According to PC45, Poker is now considered an intellectual sport, and the Ministry of the Interior has allowed the establishment of the "Bridge and Poker Association".In localities across the country, "Poker Clubs" have been established to organize practice competitions and organize trial tournaments.

However, this type of sport has not yet been issued by the sports industry with specific guidelines for organizing competitions and training.

During their operations, these Clubs committed many violations (such as hanging up tournament prizes without notifying the authorities, registering members to participate in an incorrect manner...).

Therefore, many people take advantage of the fact that Poker is a sport and secretly organize gambling under the guise of huge stakes, causing many consequences for society.
